Meet The Harpist

Atlanta wedding Harpist Missy graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Music.

She was a professional musician and teacher in the South Florida area for 4 years.  Years prior to that, she worked honing her skills throughout the Richmond, Virginia area. Missy has over 15 years of professional experience performing at weddings, receptions, banquets, and other special events.  She started her harp experience by playing in orchestras for churches and universities.  She then expanded her professional opportunities by playing at hotels and resorts throughout the South Florida area. While in Florida, Wood performed at an event that hosted former Governor Jeb Bush and the Power 100 at the world famous Breakers Hotel.

In 2008, she moved to Virginia where she played nearly 50 weddings over 2 seasons. Missy offers brides complimentary consultations!  They can meet with her and hear her full wedding repertoire and hand pick all the music of their ceremonies.  During a wedding ceremony, Missy will play romantic Prelude music while guests are being seated, a special song for the seating of grandmothers and mothers, and the bridal party and bridal processional music. She also offers music for the unity candle or sand ceremony portion of the wedding along with the bridal recessional music.  Missy displays professionalism by making sure her brides and clients know exactly what to expect on the day of their event.  This gives them one less thing to worry about. She is reliable, punctual, and comes to performances with a friendly and flexible attitude.  She takes direction well and will do whatever she can to insure her clients’ 100% satisfaction the day of a performance.

I am writing on behalf of Missy Wood. I have had the great pleasure of knowing Missy for the last three years as her voice teacher at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. Missy is a very gifted singer and musician who also has fine piano skills and is quite accomplished on the harp as well.

I also had Missy in my Studio class, Women’s Chorale, and Vocal Pedagogy where I had several occasions to watch her teach. She is a natural teacher with abilities far beyond her years to impart musical knowledge to others while making it a great deal of fun to learn as well. She has been an excellent student in all areas of the musical discipline and has set an example of maturity and work ethic that is quite high for her fellow students.

In 26 years of teaching college, I have had few students who performed and learned at the level that Missy does all the while being very respectful and conscientious in all her dealings with faculty and friends. She is vivacious and her enthusiasm for music and life in general, is contagious. She will be a tremendous asset to your program. It is a great pleasure to give her my highest recommendation.
