Meet The Band
In the traditions of Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, Monty Alexander and others, Prime Time Jazz Band presents countless standards in fresh, new arrangements.
Joined by professional Bassist Chris Enghauser, the trio presents the most mature Jazz to be heard in this part of the state of Georgia. The trio has been playing together for the better part of a decade now, and it is obvious as they demonstrate musical ESP every Wednesday at The Porterhouse Grill in Athens, GA – arguably the longest running steady jazz gig in Athens history (6+ years and counting).
Jim, Chris and Tony have performed for countless wedding receptions, festivals and other events over the years. They have backed numerous guest artists, including a Sinatra Tribute with the Macon Symphony as well as local singers such as Marty Winkler and Mary Sigales.
Tony has had the pleasure of working with a number of well-known artists during his tenure as Professor of Percussion at the University of Georgia”s Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Those names include: Cecil Welch (long-time trumpeter for Henry Mancini), Bassist John Clayton, Saxophonist Joshua Redman, Jazz Vibist David Friedman, Dave Brubeck, Bassist John Lee (Dizzy Gillespie Band), Keyboardist Chuck Leavel (Rolling Stones musical director), Otis Redding, Jr. and Derek Redding, and Vibist Dave Samuels (Caribbean Jazz Project). He also plays Vibes for receptions, etc. either in a solo or small group setting.
Whenever Prime Time Jazz needs to expand to a quartet, they enlist the talents of Saxophonist and Multi-Woodwind virtuoso Dave D’Angelo, who has played most every major musical on Broadway in New York, and toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Buddy Rich Big Band.
