Pianist Jim Tiernan
Atlanta pianist vocalist Jim Tiernan has withstood the test of time having spending most of his adult life in Atlanta. From the 1970s to today, Tiernan has held together a most sought-after one-nighter Atlanta cover music wedding band known locally as “Blue Sky”. When not performing with the popular Blue Sky band, one is likely to find Jim performing solo piano privately throughout Atlanta’s area country clubs and special event facilities. “Live performing – no matter if it is solo or with my band – "This is what I love to do most of all!” he says.

When not performing with the popular Blue Sky Band, one is likely to find Jim performing solo piano privately throughout Atlanta’s area country clubs and event facilities. “Live performing – no matter if it is solo or with my band – is what I love to do most of all!” he says.
His performance background has taken him from the Bahamas to Alaska and to over half of the fifty states. When hiring an Atlanta pianist vocalist for your wedding ceremony and/or wedding reception you will want to consider the resume – perhaps one as rich as Jim’s. Schooled in music while living in New York City, he began with classical training and gravitated to American popular music as a young adult.
With influences from Arthur Rubinstein to The Beatles, Jim’s background became as varied. “I not only love Sinatra and Michael Buble but also popular dance music like Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams and, for many years, my band and I have been successful playing like live, unabashedly, human jukeboxes!”
In the early 1980’s Jim was hired on as one of the house pianist vocalists at the then nationally known piano bar restaurant, Carbo’s Café. He performed there one or two nights a week for 15 years! His repertoire in those years grew by leaps and bounds. Music that he holds dear is the most favorited, beloved American songs of all time. Jim reads his audience demographic like a seasoned NFL quarterback reads his opponent’s defense.
Because Tiernan has memorized so much “cover” music, he can change the mood and tempo of any event on a dime. Jim is still living the dream – doing what one loves to do and getting paid for it! He is the consummate entertainer coupling sophisticated charm with nearly peerless talent at the keyboard. Before you hire this Brookhaven pianist know also that he wears another hat.

Amazing Pianist!
Jim Tiernan from Blue Sky Atlanta performed at my wedding ceremony and it was absolutely amazing. He was prepared and even took the time to learn songs that were special to me from Little Women and Anne of Green Gables. The ceremony was absolutely magical because of the piano component. I have used Blue Sky Atlanta often through my position at Cherokee Town and Country Club and I can always count on them to produce amazing talent for any event. You haven’t lost your touch! The music for my daughter’s wedding on the 31st of August, 2008 was wonderful! Your band played such a diverse repertoire and you exceeded my expectations. Because you kept the energy level high, the dance floor was packed all night. I was surprised to see so many people dancing throughout the evening, which is a credit to Blue Sky’s wonderful skills.
The Naylor Hall package includes a D.J. but they don’t know what they are missing. It was so nice to have you host the reception as a touch of class would be missing if you were not there. When I had used your services in the past, I never thought I would be in a position to need a band again. I am just thrilled and hope another occasion will arrive in the future when I call on you again. You are terrific!
