Creative Entertainment Options for Your Wedding at the Payne-Corley House

A bride and groom smiling

Located in beautiful Duluth, the Payne-Corley House has been one of Atlanta's top wedding venues since 1998.

Whether you're planning a micro-wedding or a grand event, this restored farmhouse is the ideal backdrop for your big day.

If you're planning a reception here, then an entertainer can help make the event as festive and lively as possible. Today, we're sharing a few of the most creative options around, so you can create the one-of-a-kind day you deserve.

Party Band for Outdoor Celebrations

The Payne-Corley House wedding venue is unique in that it offers both indoor and outdoor event spaces.

Family-owned and operated for more than 20 years, this property features a home that was originally built in 1873, along with 3.5 acres of green space.

Whether you exchange vows under a canopy of trees or out in the open on the back lawn, you'll have plenty of space to spread out. This makes the perfect setting for a large party band that might be cramped in a smaller setting.

A group like 12 South Band would be right at home here. There's enough space to accommodate the multiple singers, outfit changes, and choreography of the set without compromising quality.

Looking for a sound that's a little more low-key? This is also a great spot for a moderately-sized group, like the seven-piece Davis & The Love. From Top 40 classics to 80s pop, this lively crowd favorite can play it all.

Jazz Artists and Harpists for a Micro-Wedding

The Payne-Corley House defines boutique micro-weddings as smaller, more intimate gatherings of 50 or fewer people.

If you prefer to keep things small, this can be a great way to celebrate your union. You can still have all of the traditions, including the first dance and cake cutting, but on a slightly smaller scale.

These can be held inside the house in the venue Ballroom, or outside on the grounds. As the crowd will be smaller, you don't need the volume and energy of a large party band for this type of wedding.

Instead, consider booking a soulful jazz musician, like the Moonlight Jazz Trio. While the group has a laidback and smooth sound, they can also bring in more instruments to suit the needs of your event.

Another creative alternative is to hire a harpist! Harp music is serene and stunning, and creates a soothing soundtrack while your guests mingle quietly. A founding member of the Georgia Chapter of the American Harp Society, Harpist Catherine is an excellent pick.

Magicians and Comedians for Grand Events

If you're planning a big soiree at the Payne-Corley House, then your wedding will classify as a grand event at this venue. The facility can provide planners and designers to bring your vision to life if you book this type of large-scale party.

In most cases, these types of occasions utilize both the indoor and outdoor event space. The Ballroom can hold up to 160 people. Combined with the grounds, the maximum capacity is 200 people.

While there are plenty of local artists who could supply gorgeous wedding music on your special day, why not take it to the next level and book a magician?

An unexpected addition to your musical lineup, a magician can keep the mood light, encourage guest engagement, and help make your wedding even more memorable.

Take Magician Howie, for instance. Since age 8, he's been performing tricks, illusions, and sleights of hand for mesmerized audiences. He's an expert at catering his content to his audience, and will work with your specific requests to deliver an unforgettable performance.

Looking for another surprising twist? Think about hiring a comedian! An artist like Comedian Jerry Farber will keep guests gushing about your wedding long after the last dance. A fantastic entertainer, Farber is also skilled on the piano and delivers a truly immersive experience.

These entertainers can perform on their own, or you can also hire musicians and singers to take the stage before or after their set.

DJs for Crowd-Pleasing Fun

If all you want to do is dance, then you may not need a live performing artist to serenade your day. The Payne-Corley House offers lots of spaces for you to tap your toes and show off your moves.

Before that, you don't exactly want your guests socializing in an entirely quiet room. During the cocktail hour, you need soft and soothing tunes that encourage quiet conversation. Then, you may want to kick it up a notch when it's time for everyone to hit the dance floor.

In this case, a DJ is perfect!

Skilled and experienced ones know how to vary the vibe and volume of the music according to the audience. If you're planning to entertain a crowd, then look for someone like DJ Tony Unique. Known for his ability to read a room, DJ Tony is one of the most sought-after and highly-rated DJs in the city.

Pianists for Intimate Elopements

You don't have to skip out on wedding entertainment if you elope. In fact, The Payne-Corley House has an entire page dedicated to elopements!

These can be some of the most special and memorable events, and the venue offers a special package exclusively for couples who want to keep their day private and memorable.

While there usually isn't a reception after the elopement ceremony, you can still hire a musician to play background music while you walk down the aisle, exchange vows, and say "I do".

Pianist Richard would be a wonderful addition to these moments. In addition to playing special piano solos, he's also known for holding sing-alongs!
