Three Ways to Personalize Your Wedding

ways to personalize your wedding

Your wedding day is all about the love you share with your partner. It’s a celebration of your commitment to each other, and a chance to share that with your friends and family. As such, you want to ensure that your day reflects your likes and wants, not just what is traditional or expected. The best wedding days are ones where the couple are relaxed and happy, and your best chance of doing that is creating an environment where you feel comfortable.

Plus, weddings can be expensive, so it’s important to spend your money on things that bring you joy and make the day feel special. Let’s take a look at three ways you can create your dream day.

Choose Entertainment That Reflects You

Enjoy dancing? Choose a live band. Love musical theatre? Get a singer to belt out your favorite show tunes. Want something interactive? Why not hire a magician. The entertainment at your wedding reception is there to entertain you, so make sure you choose something you love. Whilst there will always be an element of needing to please your guests (after all, you don’t want to offend anyone) your wedding day should primarily be about what you like, especially if you’re the ones paying for it.

Choose Your Favorite Food

In days past, wedding food has veered towards more formal dining, with roast chicken or beef, vegetables and potatoes featuring on wedding menus world over. It’s hard to feed a lot of people at once, and this menu has the twin benefits of being a meal that most people will eat, plus it’s relatively easy to serve en masse and get right, if you have an experienced chef and venue. It’s also fairly allergen-free, and the meat can be substituted for a vegetarian option without also having to change the sides.

However, if you’re more into pizza, pasta, Mexican food or sushi, there’s no reason you shouldn’t serve this at your wedding. It will take more work and time to source suppliers, so you’ll want to do this early in the planning process, but there are plenty of venues that will allow food trucks or guest chefs into the kitchen. However, make sure that you check this before you book your venue to avoid any issues.

Get Your Friend to Officiate

This will depend on the type of ceremony you’re planning on having, but in many cases, a close friend or family member may be able to officiate your nuptials, adding the ultimate level of personalization to your big day. What could be more special than having someone meaningful to you both commit you to each other?

It’s a big responsibility, so do make sure that you offer your chosen person the chance to say no without causing offence. Not everyone will feel comfortable with the legal requirements, and it can also be daunting to stand up in front of a crowd and lead a service. However, if they do say yes, it can make for a truly special ceremony that is personalized to you right down to the vows that you exchange.

Create your own unique day

With some creative thinking, it’s easy to add personal touches to your big day. Make sure to plan ahead and get your chosen suppliers booked in early to create a truly magical wedding day.
