Music is one of the feature attractions at a wedding reception. After everyone has seen the beautiful bridal gown and eaten the delicious food, it’s time for the music to take center stage. If you want to make sure that you deliver the goods with songs that will make the occasion a happy one, we’ve got your back.

We’re going to give you a sampler of a terrific wedding reception songs for dancing, dining, and other special moments.

Up-Tempo Dance Songs

What’s a wedding reception without a generous supply of songs guaranteed to make people hit the dance floor? It’s a challenge to find a tune that both your 12-year-old niece and your 72-year-old grandmother will love. The best that you can do is play a variety of songs that are likely to cross demographics.

You can do yourself a huge favor by polling your guests ahead of time. Design your invitation so that the RSVP includes room for the guests to list a few of their favorite songs. You can also ask them to list a handful of songs that they’re tired of hearing. Armed with that information, you could cobble together a set list that might even have your grandmother dancing with your niece.

One additional thing to keep in mind is the lyrics. Even if a song is a favorite of several people, you need to decide if its risque lyrics are likely to offend others. A wedding is a time of celebration. Try to find a clean version of the song or perhaps, save it for the after-party.

Below are a few songs to get you started. They’re contemporary as well as old school favorites.
